Science-Driven Nutrition from Edmonton, Alberta
Bio-Monitoring Corporation was founded in Edmonton with the mission of bridging biotechnology and nutrition through microbial innovation. Rooted in over two decades of scientific research and industrial experience in microbial genetics and fermentation, our work harnesses beneficial bacteria to develop bio-based solutions that support human health and sustainability.
Our flagship initiative, the BioFolate Project, leverages optimized Lactobacillus strains to ferment and produce natural folic acid (vitamin B9). This forward-looking innovation helps reduce dependence on synthetic vitamins and drives environmentally responsible nutraceutical production in Alberta.
We produce natural, bioactive folate ingredients through precision fermentation. These ingredients are designed for adults with elevated nutritional or metabolic needs, including women with MTHFR polymorphisms, celiac disease, a history of bariatric surgery, zinc deficiency, chronic alcohol use, fatty liver, or depression. Our goal is to support preconception folate optimization, reduce the risk of neural tube defects, and improve adherence in complex patient groups.
We primarily serve:
-
Food manufacturers seeking clean-label fortification ingredients
-
Supplement brands wanting a differentiated, “natural-origin” folate
-
Pharma and clinical nutrition products needing reliable, bioavailable folate at scale
